Introduction

There are many success stories to be found regarding how organizations have used Six Sigma practices to make significant operational improvements and also reap substantial cost savings; however, Six Sigma is not a magic potion that can be simply sprinkled around a company, expecting quick wins to emerge. Implementing Six Sigma requires a large commitment of time, money, resources, and, typically, some outside expertise. Therefore, thorough research, planning, and due diligence are needed before taking the Six Sigma plunge.
