Examines two cities in the United State, each city to be drawn from separate regions of the country: North, South, East, West. The paper should briefly identify:
1) The demographic, economic, socio-cultural make-up of each city;
2) The form(s) of government that have arisen to govern these cities;
3) The specific challenges, issues, and problems that each city will face in the next 50 years;
4) The demands for change and adaptation that will be required of existing governmental institutions and processes in these cities; and
5) A brief comparison and contrast of the two cities studied in the paper.
Overall, the paper should address the following question: Does the culture of a city matter in terms of the types of political system and forms of city government that is needed to serve that city?
The paper should be around 5 – 7 pages in length, 11pt or 12pt font, with 1 inch margins, double spaced. It should have a recognizable introduction, body and conclusion, and there should be a clearly stated argument or thesis statement. The following criteria that will be used to grade the paper:
