After reading this week’s New York Times article speculating on some of the future potential issues of automation (and artificial intelligence) arising from Amazon’s announced purchase of Whole Foods, what are the ethical implications that follow on from the statement by Erik Brynjolfsson, director of the M.I.T. Initiative on the Digital Economy, “The bigger and more profound way that technology affects jobs is by completely reinventing the business model”.
2. Chapter 5 in our text stresses the importance of ethics as organizational culture. What short and long term steps should the combined Amazon and Whole Foods take at this time to insure its success as an ethical corporation.
