Rank and Yank
Performance appraisal tools represent one of the more controversial elements in the performance management toolbox. One of the most controversial forms of appraisal has been what at General Electric became famously labelled, “Rank and Yank”.
Conduct research focusing on the “Rank and Yank” appraisal system, and then in an essay of between 500 and 750 words:
- Describe the elements of that appraisal system; and,
- Use Step 3 of the Five Step Ethical Decision Making Process to evaluate “Rank and Yank” as a performance appraisal alternative.
