Tort Law Discussion, law homework help
Mary Sue, a single mother with three young children, is getting ready for bed one evening when she sees a shadowy figure move past her window and then disappear. Having heard that there was a peeping Tom in the neighborhood, Mary Sue grabs her shotgun, which she keeps in the bedroom closet, and fires the next time she sees movement. She hears someone cry out and knows she made contact. When she hears nothing further, she goes outside, gun in hand, and sees a man on the ground. She is horrified to discover that the man is the teenage boy who lives next door. He had apparently come into Mary Sue’s yard to retrieve a beer bottle one of his friends had thrown in her yard. Is Mary Sue liable for the boy’s injuries?
