Manson’s Youth
This assignment will assess competency 1. Examine the motivations, drives, and outcomes of serial killers.
Directions: Throughout our course we will relate our concepts to the Manson case. This is perhaps one of the best known examples of a serial killer in our modern history. If you are not familiar with it, please read the supplement book Helter Skelter and/or research the case online. The Crime Museum is a good place to start.
Then, in a one to two page essay, address the questions below. Your assignment should be double spaced using 12 point Times New Roman font (black).
- Who is Charles Manson? Research his youth, background and upbringing. Provide a summary of your findings. (Focus on his youth… we’ll delve into the murders in upcoming weeks)
