The purpose of this class is to expose you to the many available art forms and give you ideas on how to use them to teach children. In order to do that, you will need to do research. You will read articles, the text and use your own experiences. After all the readings, research and teaching you have done, you will prepare a PowerPoint presentation that thoroughly covers the art form assigned.

-First- Your PowerPoint will begin by answering the following questions:

What is music?

What are the components of music?

What types of music are there?

Why is music an important tool to use in teaching children?

Use these websites that have great articles about music and children to provide the info for your PowerPoint slides. I expect a minimum of 5 slides dealing with these questions.

Next – Explain how you would integrate music into your teaching.

This should include specific activities. Be specific, detailed and thorough in your subject matter and the music activities you would use. I expect a minimum of 5 slides dealing with these questions.

You need to have a minimum of five slides that answer the first question and a minimum of five that explain the integration for a total of at least 10 slides. Your Title Slide and/or a Works Cited Slide need to be in addition to the minimum required slides.
