Please review “An American View of the Work in the 1820s” on page 811 of the textbook. This map was to inform students of the “civilization” of the world.  Each country is designated as either “civilized”, “enlightened”, “savage”, “barbarian”, or “half-civilized”. 

Answer the following questions in a minimum of 200 words. Please reply to two other posts.

1. View the “civilized” countries. Why do you think these were identified this way?

2. How do you think the creator of this map distinguished the other groups? 

3. What do you think the author felt what was the difference between “civilized” and “enlightened”?
