Discussion post – Virginia or Massachusetts

If you were sent back in time to the early 1600s, would you prefer to live in Virginia or in Massachusetts?  Note that you will be traveling back in time in a “veil of ignorance” situation — that is, you will not know, until you reach destination, who you will be, or what social or economic position you will be in — so please do not assume that you will be rich and famous!  As you write your post, make certain that you include specific references to primary source evidence, as you explain WHY you would prefer one location over another.
