Philosophy

Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism—have an ethical system that contains the notion of karma. What is karma, generally?  What are its effects on the individual’s soul? Specifically, what must one do, or follow, to achieve “good” karma in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism?  Finally, do you think karma is an effective concept for guiding ethical behavior by itself?  Why or why not?
