You are assuming the role of the project manager for a company called SuperPacks to provide a new backpack product with a built-in refrigeration pouch and radio module. Your customer for this project is the U.S. Army, Ground Forces and Special Operations. As the project manager for your team, you will be submitting to your manager a project management report.

Work Breakdown Schedule

As the project manager, your role is to track and manage the projects you are working on; creating a Statement of Work and a Work Breakdown Structure are tools that can help you manage a project or projects. Below you will create a Statement of work consisting of the basics of the project(s) you are working on. Consider this similar to a business or marketing report, but this will define the project, project scope, and overall strategy of the project.

Part One
Statement of Work (SOW) Document:

Develop the project Statement of Work document to include the following information:

• Business need
• Product scope description
• Strategic plan

Part Two
As part of your Statement of Work for your project, you will create a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS). The WBS allows for project managers to compose all tasks of the projects into smaller components to ensure a more manageable project(s).

Terrorism is a complex and tragically violent topic that affects every corner of the globe. Terrorist attacks may be domestic, such as those that have occurred in Oklahoma City, Iraq, or Colombia. They may also be carried out by external threats such as those that have occurred in Spain, England, and the United States. In many cases, the violence of terrorism is met with more violence in the form of retribution.

Case 1

Clarence Morgan, Jr., owned Easy Way Automotive, a car dealership in D’Lo, Mississippi. Easy Way sold a truck to Loyd Barnard, who signed a note for the amount of the price payable to Trustmark National Bank in six months. Before the note came due, Barnard returned the truck to Easy Way, which sold it to another buyer. Using some of the proceeds from the second sale, Easy Way sent a check to Trustmark to pay Barnard’s note. Meanwhile, Barnard obtained another truck from Easy Way, financed through another six-month note payable to Trustmark. After eight of these deals, some of which involved more than one truck, an Easy Way check to Trustmark was dishonored. In a suit in a Mississippi state court, Trustmark sought to recover the amounts of two of the notes from Barnard. Trustmark had not secured titles to two of the trucks covered by the notes, however, and this complicated Barnard’s efforts to reclaim the vehicles from the later buyers. [Trustmark National Bank v. 1. On what basis might Barnard be liable on the Trustmark notes? Would he be primarily or secondarily liable? Could this liability be discharged on the theory that Barnard’s right of recourse had been impaired when Trustmark did not secure titles to the trucks covered by the notes? Explain.
2. Easy Way’s account had been subject to other recent overdrafts, and a week after the check to Trustmark was returned for insufficient funds, Morgan committed suicide. At the same time, Barnard was unable to obtain a mortgage because the unpaid notes affected his credit rating. How do the circumstances of this case underscore the importance of practicing business ethics?
