Watch the documentary, “White People”. What are your reactions? Do racial and cultural ideas, conflicts, attitudes, etc. play out the way they were depicted in the documentary? Briefly explain your thoughts.
Then, breifly describe one challenge you have experienced when communicating with someone of a different cultural group. Be honest, but not critical. What was most discomforting about the interaction?
Lastly, discuss the factors that make it difficult to understand the norms and values of a culture. How can you prepare yourself to understand and/or adapt to a different culture?
