Part 1

If you have ever asked a question, wondered why something is as it is, or tried to understand an event, you have engaged in research. For this assignment, you will create the first part of your research paper. You should use the headings below for the sections of your paper.

You will craft the framework of your research using the articles you collected and summarized from Assignment 1 and / or other articles you found that relate to your research topic. Assignments 2, 3, and 4 will all build on each other to create one comprehensive research paper. Each time you submit an assignment, your instructor will provide feedback that you can use moving forward with the other parts of the research paper.

Write a seven to ten (7-10) page paper in which you:

• Introduction Section – Describe the:
• Introduction to your topic.
• Purpose of your research.
• Problem statement.
• Literature Review – Summarize the literature you collected related to your topic. (This will mainly be from Assignment 2.)
• Research Question – Identify the:
• Gap(s) in the literature.
• Research question or hypotheses of your topic.
• Proposed theory for your research.
• Include at least six (6) peer-reviewed articles related to your topic.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

• Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
• Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

• Determine the best research methodology for a given educational research topic.
• Conduct a literature review for a given research topic.
• Describe ethical considerations in the research process.
• Write an educational research proposal.
• Interpret educational research results.

Part 2

What do reporters, crime scene investigators, and sports broadcasters have in common? All of these occupations are focused on reporting the results from data or information. The final part of your research paper is about the data procedures, reporting, and interpretation of the results of your research topic.

For this assignment, you will create the last part of your research paper. Build on your paper from Assignments 2 and 3, and integrate feedback from your instructor. You should use the headings below for the sections of your paper.

Write a twelve to fifteen (12-15) page paper (this includes the work you already completed in Assignments 2 and 3) in which you:

• Describe the:

• Identify two to three (2-3) common themes in the literature.
• Contrast the findings and results of the literature.
• Include seven to ten (7-10) peer-reviewed quantitative or qualitative articles related to your topic.

• Describe the participants in the study.
• Methodology
  • Describe the research instrument participants completed in the study.
  • Explain the procedures that you conducted.
• Perform the data analysis.
• Interpret Results
  • Summarize your findings.
  • Interpret the results of the data analysis.
  • Describe the limitations of your research.
• Write a conclusion where you pose additional research questions that can be studied from your research.

Remember to address the feedback from your instructor for Assignments 2 and 3.

• Search for a qualitative research study in education from the past 6 months and post the link.
• Identify the research design, purpose, and focus from the study.
• Respond to at least one of your classmates.
  • Identify the data collection method used in the study.
  • What is at least one ethical consideration of the researchers for this study?

Part 4

Search for a quantitative research study in education from the past six months.

• Identify the research problem, research question and/or hypothesis, and what type of research design the study used (nonexperimental research vs descriptive and type).

• Post your research topic and finalized research problem.
  • Briefly summarize how you will conduct your research. Be sure to state how your research ties into your literature review in your summary.
  • Write one sample question that you could use in your survey.

“Hierarchy is a way to structure an organization using different levels of authority and a vertical link or chain of command, between superior and subordinate levels of the organization. Higher Levels control Lower Levels of the Hierarchy.” Do you know what type of organizational structure your company has flat or tall? How would you describe the “culture” or the work environment at your company? Can you count or identify the number of layers or level of managers or supervisors between your position and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and/or President of the Company? Where do you fit in within the organization? Meaning, are you an entry level, mid-management or upper management?

Part 10

Students these days are subjected to a wide variety of tests throughout their K12 school career. Research the types of tests a student has to take for a specific grade level and when those tests are administered in your school district. (i.e. All high school seniors have to pass a state exam for basic literacy in order to graduate.)

• Post your findings to the discussion board. Note the type of test (criterion-referenced, norm-referenced, etc.), the testing instrument, and the type of data collected from each test. Also note if it is a national test like the PARCC, a state-wide test (NY Regents Exam) or a local/school specific test.
• State how the school district uses the results of the testing. (i.e. Apply for school funding, criteria for graduation, teacher/school assessment, etc.)
• Given what you have learned so far about educational testing and evaluation methods, do you think that the students in your school district are given enough testing, not enough, or too much testing?
• Do you think that the tests that the students are given accurately reflect their skills and abilities?
• Why or why not? Provide at least one reference from a quality source that you have researched on your own.
