Prepare and deliver a 5-7 minute informative speech. This informative presentation topic is restricted to something applicable to your work life (job that you applied for). You should spend time researching something of interest with a dual purpose in mind: it should be interesting to you, but also the class as well.

A minimum of three (3) different outside sources must be used for this speech.

You are required to incorporate one (1) visual aid into the presentation (one is the minimum, you may use more if needed). Note cards are allowed for this speech, but reading from your cards will result in a failing grade.

  • Are adequately researched with information coming from a credible source.

  • Are not completely memorized, but practices an extemporaneous style of speaking
  • Have been practiced so that the speaker is not stumbling, stopping & starting etc.
  • Incorporate appropriate hand gestures and body movement, including an effective use of space.
  • In order to be effective as an informative speaker you’ll need to:

    1) find a topic that is unique, new, and compelling;

    2) gather strong supporting material (research);

    3) organize and practice your speech.

    GRADING CONSIDERATIONS: Appropriate narrowed topic, clear organization, variety of supporting materials, use of details, and attention grabbing introduction and conclusion that leaves an impact. I expect you to be confident in your topic, make strong eye contact with the entire audience, speak fluently, and show interest and enthusiasm. Response ONLY, law homework help

    HELLLO PLEAS DO a response post(s) (at least 150 words THANKS

    Punitive damages are damages awarded to punish, reform, or deter a defendant and others involved in the activities or conduct similar to that of the defendant, from engaging in the behavior that forms the basis of the lawsuit in question. In the case of Stella Liebeck versus McDonald’s, the jury was right in granting punitive damages because McDonald’s coffee was unreasonably hot and dangerous, and despite seven hundred complaints between 1983 and 1992, McDonald’s had made no effort to turn down the temperatures of the coffee (Weiman, 2017). The decision to slap McDonald’s with punitive damages was effective as the firm substantially reduced the serving temperature of coffee sold. McDonald’s should have paid the entire amount of 2.86 million dollars punitive damages as opposed to about $ 500,000 as they had been aware of the danger posed by their hot coffee and had been indifferent and callous to complaints made in the past by its customers.

    Punitive damages act as a wake-up call to companies to take care not to harm their customers. There should be no cap regulating the amount of punitive damages as companies will anticipate the consequence of their actions; hence, the punitive nature of the damages will be lost. Anticipating the damages may encourage such companies to be indifferent towards the dangers that their products pose to the public as they will be aware of what damages they may be asked to pay and hence proceed with their dangerous activities despite the repercussions of such actions to the public. For this reason, punitive damages should be awarded by the court based on the facts of the case and the extent to which deterrence is relevant in the particular case (Punitive damages, n.d). The creation of a cap will therefore not deter companies from manufacturing defective products that injure people. It will instead offer such companies a law to hide behind while defending the amount of damages to pay for their injurious acts to the public.

    Federal Emergency Management Agency, management assignment help

    The decision to move the Federal Emergency Management Agency into the Department of Homeland Security changed the dynamics of emergency management, including the function and focus of FEMA, the interactions between the nations lead emergency manager and the President, among other changes. On one side, there is the feeling that incorporating FEMA into DHS has helped to concentrate the agencies dealing with hazard and risk under one roof, thereby eliminating some of the problems that occurred on September 11th. On the other side is the argument that inserting FEMA into DHS has severely weakened the ability of FEMA to perform its required function. Use this forum to state your opinion on whether or not you think FEMA belongs in DHS, or whether it should be returned to Cabinet-level status, and support your answer with examples (hypothetical or actual).

    1. What are the three facts that Pfeffer mentions that are pervasive about the American workplace?

    2. Would you agree that “distrust of management is pervasive” (Pfeffer 116)? Why or why not? Use reasoning and 50 words or more.

    3. Given today’s ever-increasing technology and the fact that more and more people are working at home, do you see this as allowing workers more time with their families, or would you agree with Pfeffer that there is a “growing conflict between work and family” that results in “employee disengagement and diminshed productivity” (117)? Respond in 50 words or more.

    4.Discuss what Pfeffer calls the “high road” and the “low road” approach (118). Responding from a personal standpoint, would which you prefer a company to take if you were an employee? And if you were the owner? If those are different, how might they be reconciled? Respond in 50 words or more.

    5.Pfeffer mentions that workers are dissatisfied with “pay for performance” and that the strategy can create “feelings of inequity” (121). Why is that and do you agree? Respond in 50 words or more.

    6. Pfeffer describes how training, information sharing and decentralized decision making can activate the norm of reciprocity (122-123). First, define each of these four words and then describe, in your own words, how these practices can positivity or negativity influence a company. Do this in 50 words or more.

    7. Throughout the article, Pfeffer suggests that performance and job satisfaction are tied just as much to the work they are doing as to how well they fit into the company culture (social relations). Explain the evidence he uses to argue to this (mention at least three points) and then discuss if you agree with his point or not and why. Respond in 50 words or more.

    8. List the reasons that Pfeffer mentions that describe why an organization might not adopt human resource management innovations. Do this in 30 words or more.

    9. List 4-6 important pieces of information that you garnered from this article. Then, write a one or two sentence summative statement (summary sentences) of what you believe to be Pfeffer’s overall argument or point. Do this in 40 words or more.
